"Once the Doctor is exterminated I shall build a new race of Daleks…we shall be even more deadly!"

Captured in a Time Corridor, the Doctor and his companions are forced to land on 20th Century Earth, diverted by the Doctor’s oldest enemy-the Daleks.  It is here that the true purpose of the Time Corridor becomes apparent: after 90 years of imprisonment, Davros, the ruthless creator of the Daleks, is to be liberated to assist in the resurrection of his army.  But not even the Daleks foresee the poisonous threat presented by their creator.  Indeed, who would suspect Davros of wanting to destroy his own Daleks-and why?  Only the Doctor knows the truth.  But will he be capable of descending to Davros’ level of evil in order to stop him?

Additional Notes
resurrection_b.jpg (7857 bytes)
  • "Resurrection of the Daleks" marks the departure of long time companion Tegan Jovanka.  Her character is written out quite abruptly at the end of the story.
  • The Daleks return after a 5 year absence, as does Davros.
  • Although recorded as a 4 part adventure, this story was edited into two 50 minute segments rather than the traditional 25 minute episode format because of the broadcast of the '84 Olympics in Britain.
  • There is quite a high body count by the end of this story, prompting some to question (yet again) the level of violence in the program.
  • Lytton (played by Maurice Coulborn) would return the following year playing Lytton once again in the Colin Baker season opener "Attack of the Cybermen."
  • This story is also available on DVD with an isolated soundtrack, interviews on the making of the story and loads of other material.
