DVD Features
  • Industrial Action:

A featurette delving into the troubled production of this silver anniversary story.  Interviewees include Sylvester McCoy (7th Doctor), Sophie Aldred (Ace), Gerard Murphy (Richard), Andrew Cartmell (script editor), Kevin Clarke (writer), stunt arranger Nick Gillard, and Chris Clough (director).

  • Deleted and Extended Scenes:

A healthy compilation of deleted scenes removed from the finished product because of overruns in the length of the episode or for dramatic/editorial reasons.

  • Trails and Continuity Announcements:
Trails and continuity announcements first seen during the transmission of this story in 1988.

  • Audio Options:

The first option is a commentary track including Sylvester McCoy (7th Doctor), Sophie Aldred (Ace), Andrew Cartmell (script editor), and director Chris Clough.

The second audio option is the isolated soundtrack.  With this feature you will hear the music Keff McCulloch composed for this story sequentially as it appears in the episode.  This does mean that there are long gaps of silence in between music cues.

  • Photo Gallery:
Lots of rare and never before seen photos taken during the production of this story.  Very nice.

  • Information Text:
An incredible amount of trivia and tidbits of Whovian detail are provided.  The text appears intermittently along the bottom of the screen and is written by members of the Doctor Who Restoration Team.

  • PDF Files:
Accessible from any computer with a DVD drive, a PDF of some of the original Radio Times press clippings.

  • Easter Eggs:
Unknown at this time.  For a full list of known Easter Eggs and screen grabs of them click HERE.

Additional Notes
  • "Silver Nemesis" is the third story in the 25th anniversary of Doctor Who.

  • "Silver Nemesis" is, for all intents and purposes, "Remembrance of the Daleks" rehashed with a different villain substituted (and not all that well either I might add).  The story was billed as the 25th anniversary story, however it fell far short of any expectations for an anniversary story.

  • One thing that this story does accomplish is the re-mystification of the Doctor as several references are made to his "secrets" by the Lady Peinforte.

  • Early working titles of this story was "The Harbinger", followed by "Nemesis" and then finally "Sliver Nemesis".|

  • The original 1993 VHS release included an extended version of the story, along with a U.S./PBS documentary on the making of "Silver Nemesis".  The documentary was not included on the DVD due to clearance costs, while the extended version was shelved for DVD in lieu of a deleted scenes package.  In this case the decision to shelve the extended version was due to the low quality of  the original expanded version prepared for VHS.

  • The first episode of "Silver Nemesis" did, in fact, air on November 23rd, 1988 - the 25th anniversary of Doctor Who.

  • As with all of the U.K. DVD releases to date, the Doctor Who Restoration Team did extensive work on this story.
