Additional Notes

  • Breaking with tradition, "The Twin Dilemma," featuring the newly regenerated 6th Doctor, was the final story of the season.  This gave audiences a sneak peak at the new Doctor rather than waiting over the long summer hiatus.

  • A slightly revamped title sequence for the new incarnation of the Doctor also debuted in the story.

  • A controversial decision was made to portray this Doctor's struggle with the side effects of regeneration from an unstable angle.  The Doctor is overcome with a violent spell and attacks Peri.  Although only temporary (and showing the Doctor horrified by his own actions), the scene left a bad impression on many fans minds about the 6th Doctor.

  • Colin Baker's portrayal of the Doctor most closely resembles that of the first incarnation (played by William Hartnell).  Arrogant yet charming, quick tempered yet caring to those in need, this Doctor was a refreshing blend of conflicting traits.

  • Dennis Chinnery makes a brief appearance in episode 1 of this story.  He had previously appeared in Doctor Who as Gharman in Tom Baker's 1974 classic "Genesis of the Daleks."

  • Early titles for this story were "A Stitch in Time" and "A Switch in Time".

  • As with all of the DVD releases to date, the Doctor Who Restoration Team did extensive work on this story.  You can find the article HERE.
