Additional Notes

  • Following one of the best Davison stories ("Earthshock") is perhaps one of worst, "Time-Flight."  Its filled with idiotic humans (a necessity in any Who adventure), overly peppy pilots, and incidental music that reminds one of a dentist drill.

  • Time-Flight sees the return of the Master as well as the apparent departure of Tegan.

  • Tegan's departure at the end of this story was an intentional move, rather than a desire by Janet Fielding to leave the series.  Tegan's storyline picks back up in the next adventure "Arc of Infinity."

  • The story was filmed on location at Heathrow along with a Concorde airplane (supplied by British Airways).

  • Matthew Waterhouse makes a cameo appearance in this story.

  • This story is written by Peter Grimwade, who was also a regular contributor in the director's seat.  He directed 4 Doctor Who stories in the span of two years while at the same time trying to write this story.

  • At one point episode 3 was severely under time (to the tune of 7 minutes).  Grimwade's rewrites brought the episode up to the acceptable length.

  • Continuity buffs will be pleased to hear references to UNIT in this story.

  • This story (along with the next story "Arc of Infinity") was sold as part of a box set in the U.K.  However, it was sold separately for the Region 1 release.
  • As with all of the U.K. DVD releases to date, the Doctor Who Restoration Team did extensive work on this story to create the best possible transfer.  More information on the restoration of this story can be read at their website HERE.
