DVD Features
  • Behind the Scenes Footage:
Nearly 30 minutes of studio recording footage of Peter Davison's first story as the Doctor.

  • Saturday Night at Mill One:
A fourteen minute clip from the program taken from around the time of transmission for "Four to Doomsday."

  • Theme Music Video:
Originally intended for the release of "Castrovalva", an authoring mistake for the Region 2 release meant that a 5.1 mix was not available for this featurette.  It is included here again for our benefit is a remix of Peter Howell's version of the Doctor Who theme set to the opening/closing title star field.  There is an option to listen to this in stereo or Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound.  This option was corrected for the R1 release of "Castrovalva" and so, if included here, will be a repeat featurette for those in R1 land.

  • Photo Gallery:
Once again we are treated to many rare production stills and quite a few behind the scenes ones as well.

  • Information Text:
Lots of trivia and tidbits of Whovian detail are provided.  The text appears intermittently along the bottom of the screen and is written by members of the Doctor Who Restoration Team.

  • Coming Soon:
A specially made trailer for an upcoming DVD release of classic Doctor Who.

  • Audio Options:
This option allows you to listen to an audio commentary.  The participants on this commentary are Peter Davison (The Doctor), Janet Fielding (Tegan), Matthew Waterhouse (Adric) Sarah Sutton (Nyssa), and director John Black.

  • Easter Eggs:
Unknown at this time.    For a full list of known Easter Eggs and screen grabs of them click HERE.

Additional Notes
  • "Four to Doomsday" is not the most memorable of the Davison adventures (in fact, its widely panned by fans - and, in particular, by Davison himself).

  • This story was actually the first one filmed and completed by Peter Davison and company.  There are two conflicting stories explaining this.  One explanation states that Davison's first story ("Castrovalva") was filmed later to give Davison time to acclimate to his character.

  • The second explanation says that the original opening story was shelved and "Castrovalva" inserted in its place.  To give the production crew more time to prepare, filming was pushed back making "Four to Doomsday" the first one to be taped.

  • An earlier working title for this story was "Day of Wrath."

  • Due to the new dynamics of a much more crowded TARDIS (the Doctor with not one, but three companions) it was planned in the early stages that Nyssa would somehow be written out by the end of this story.  Peter Davison lobbied hard to keep the character in place, and ultimately the decision was shelved.

  • Events at the end of this story lead directly into the next adventure, "Kinda."
